EKU's PGA Golf Management program is pleased to announce that Ray Moehlman has been selected to receive the S.J. Garner Student Excellence Award for 2016-17. Ray is a senior Marketing, PGA Professional Golf Management major from Erlanger, Ky. He received the award at the PGA Golf Management spring awards reception in April.

According to program director Kim Kincer, “Ray Moehlman got involved with the PGA Golf Management Student Association and our Tournament Committee within the first few weeks he was on campus. Ray is one of the best students, academically, we have ever had in our program. His dedication to his class work set such a positive example for others in the program. Along with excelling in the classroom, his service to our program far exceeded our expectations. Ray is a fine young man who will represent EKU and our PGA Golf Management program well for years to come.”

Ray is completing his 7-month internship at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, KY.

The award was established in Dr. Garner's name to honor her contributions to the program. Beginning with the 2010-11 academic year, an outstanding student in the PGA Golf Management program (traditionally a junior or senior) will be selected based on their academic achievement, community service, participation in events, and representation of EKU. The awardee receives a crystal trophy and their name is inscribed on a permanent plaque housed in the PGA Golf Management suite.

An avid golfer herself, Dr. Garner retired as marketing faculty from EKU in 2009 following 25 years of dedicated service to her students, colleagues, and the University.
