Alum Inspires New Class of Golf Professionals

PGM Director Kim Kincer with Dustin Riggs

EKU's PGA Golf Management program hosted special guests on August 27th, 2015. Mr. Dustin Riggs and Mr. Charlie Schuyler from Rehoboth Beach Country Club in Delaware brought inspirational advice to PGM students.

Riggs is a proud alum of EKU's PGM program. After graduating in 2012, he took a permanent position at Rehoboth. As Head Golf Professional, Schuyler continues to offer internships and job opportunities to Eastern Kentucky University graduates at Rehoboth Beach Country Club.

Riggs, an assistant golf professional at Rehoboth, naturally chose to impart the importance of internships and experience within the golf industry while Schuyler chose to focus in on the management portion of student education. He told students what makes a golf operation successful is the importance of empowering all staff members.

Both speakers were very well received. “Students were very impressed and enjoyed the seminar. I think Dustin and Charlie really had an impact,” said Ms. Kim Kincer, PGM Director. Students sent thank-you notes to the speakers and made sure to have individual conversations with them afterward concerning internships, job opportunities, and individual questions surrounding their chosen field.
