EKU PGM Students Participate in 2018 PGA Merchandise Show

EKU PGM staff are ready to welcome golf pros at the 2018 PGA Merchandise Show

For the 12th consecutive year EKU’s PGA Golf Management program participated in the PGA Merchandising Show. Several students from the PGM program traveled to Orlando, Fl., to attend the tradeshow from January 22-27.

Five students attended including seniors Austin Bailey and Ben Collie, juniors Mike Berry and Zach S. Smith and sophomore Garrett Allen.

The PGA Merchandising Show is the largest tradeshow dedicated to a single sport. Approximately 1,000 major industry brands were represented, including companies like Nike, Titleist, and TaylorMade.

At the Merchandising Show students and staff maximized their networking opportunities. “While students are at the show, they have the opportunity to meet many of the leaders in golf, interview for internships around the country, and attend educational opportunities to learn more about the game and business of golf,” said Austin Molen, Administrative Affairs Coordinator of the PGM program.

During the event students could attend free informational sessions offered by industry professionals. These seminars provided students access to knowledge and valued insight outside of EKU’s required curriculum on a variety of industry-related topics. These sessions focused on categories of leadership, player development, retail, and teaching and coaching.

A reception was hosted for EKU PGA/GM Alumni during the week. Many alumni and a few advisory board members reconnected with former classmates and networked with current students on the numerous career options that would be available to them in the near future.
