Newland selected as new Kentucky Section Director
Kentucky Section PGA recently announced selection of Mr. Kelly Newland, Jr., as the new Director of Junior and Senior Golf.
A native of Grayson, Ky., and a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, Kelly is from the Gateway Section of the PGA of America, where he has been serving as the Junior Golf Director. In his role with the Gateway PGA (which encompasses much of Missouri and southern Illinois), Kelly has overseen a very successful junior golf program, and is excited to have the opportunity to return to Kentucky and lead efforts to promote junior golf in his home state. A member of the PGA of America and veteran of the Pepsi Junior Golf Tour, Kelly attended East Carter High School, where he was a member of the golf team.
Kelly's experience also includes internships with the PGA of America's Junior Series, the Hawaii State Junior Golf Association (where he served under Mary Bea Porter-King) and Interlachen Country Club in Minneapolis (where he served under PGA Professional Nathan Ollhoff).
Kelly Newland is a member of EKU's December 2010 inaugural PGA Golf Management Program graduating class. According to program director Kim Kincer, "We have other graduates in very good assistant golf professional positions but he has worked his way into a management positions at a very young age."
