PGA/GM Summer Golf Camp
EKU's PGA Golf Management staff hosted the first annual Summer Golf Camp the week of June 10, 2013. Nearly 20 freshman golf management students participated in the four-day series of events designed to acquaint them with their new program.
The camp started on Sunday, June 9th, with a photo scavenger hunt around campus. Beginning on Monday morning there was golf instruction in the morning and the students played golf in the afternoon. Every evening after golf and dinner there was an activity to help the students get to know each other better and allow them to bond.
Kim Kincer, Director of the PGA Golf Management Program, said, "The PGM staff felt providing a golf camp for incoming freshmen would help the students get to know each other and allow them to form a bond before coming to school in the fall. We had a fine group of young men and women attend the camp. We are hopeful this summer experience will allow their transition to EKU to be smoother in the fall.”
Overall, the camp was a success. According to one student, he gained so much from the sessions and will take home important pointers on how to improve his golf game over the summer.
Golf Camp wrapped up on Thursday with orientation, registration and a reception hosted by the Golf Management staff for students and their families.
