PGM students go above and beyond supporting Relay for Life
Friday April 11, 2014, Eastern’s chapter of Colleges Against Cancer (CAC) hosted the Relay for Life fundraiser on campus to benefit the American Cancer Society.
This event gives participants the opportunity to honor cancer survivors, remember those who have been lost, and raise funds and awareness to help fight back.
The College of Business and Technology’s own PGA Golf Management student association was among the participating RSO teams.
This team of inspired students began fundraising by hosting Closest to the Hole, par three contest behind the Business and Technology Complex on Monday, April 7th, from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Participants could make donations to hit a number of golf balls toward the green. By the end of the day students raised $214 and the person with the closest ball to the hole won a brand new EKU PGM golf bag courtesy of the Professional Golf Management Program.
During the Relay for Life the PGM Relay team had students volunteer to walk every hour on the hour from 6:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. in the all night event.
In addition the team conducted a putt-putt contest on-site. These combined efforts totaled over $725 in donations to the American Cancer Society.
In conclusion the PGM student association finished as the second highest contributor among RSOs on campus and received the award of Last Team Standing at the event.
Special thanks to all who participated in, or contributed to Relay for Life and the fight against cancer.
